Tiberius Tetradrachm

This was listed on eBay for $59, after watching the whole week, during the last 3 sec. a mini bid war happened and I scored this wonderful Tiberius Tetradrachm.

These seem to average $250 & more.

It also has a nice provenance that I didn't know about till it arrived.

Most likely my score of the year!

In my opinion, the provenance is as nice as the coin. I am a sucker for having old holders and info on prior owners. Helps you "feel" the coin's age.

Nice coin too. These silver tets from Alexandria are tough. Most are so beat up you can barely make out one of the heads much less both legends. They definitely did not wear well as a group at all. I have one from my lady that is not as nice but still better than average and I thought I was lucky to get that one.

    Good work, BM.

    Nice one!

And you'll always win a coin toss with that one, as long as you choose "heads"! image
