Took a short road trip today to visit a couple of B&M shops. Thought this piece looked really interesting and took a chance on it.

Can anyone help identify the counter stamp? Grade opinions welcome.

    Hi Ken,

    Thanks for the info. What edition do you have? I have the 1987 edition - nothing on p89 even close. I'm sure you remember Chino from your CT days, he called it a hacienda mark.

    BTW - nice to see you and Laurentyvon back on the boards. I hope you're both feeling well.

    according to the post he died in 1783 and the coin is dated 1819 ????

    For what it's worth, that is a 1700's style counter mark...
    A lot of those marks can be very similar.

    I agree maybe the business was passed down to a son or relative and the stamp also lots of possibilities
