Hello everyone. I apologize if this has been discussed previously, but does anyone know why Rick is listing all of his recent cards at $5000.00 OBO? I've noticed this on all years Topps from 1977-1982, I haven't looked at other years. HOF'ers as well as typical common players are listed at this amount. Example:

I'm curious if this is going to be a permanent thing, as he used to start most auctions at 0.99 (which I prefer), or if it just varies with the consignee. Curious as to why he picked $5000 as the number as well..why not $10,000 or 1 million? In all seriousness though I saw it yesterday and thought it was an April Fools gag. It's still there so that's obviously not the case, and I understand that anyone can ask whatever the want for a card, but just found it out of the ordinary..

    I bought a card like that a few months ago from him with an offer of $250 that had a price of 5000. Kind of weird but oh well.

    They're placeholders listed quickly to minimize eBay listing fees and haven't been priced yet.

    I think it happens when he's bulk loading listings to take advantage of listing specials or rushing prior to Jewish holidays. There's a thread around here somewhere from the last time it happened.

    in the meantime, if someone actually pays 5K for a Registry common, the Earth shakes when the consignor does joyous circus monkey backflips.

    ==> you are correct....right now these are all make an offer auctions, and we've sold over 30K so far.....
    people are making nice offers, these will all be readjusted once we catch up....
