Large Cent ID and Date Help Requested

Hi all!

I'm sticking my head in the door over here because I'm told there is tons of knowledge and experience that may can help me. I frequent the Metal Detecting and Sports Card forums but don't dabble over here often. I tried to use the search feature on the forums to search for other examples of this coin and learn about it, but it kept giving me a 524 Time Out Error. I used IE, and Firefox both and got the same result.

While metal detecting near an old house foundation a month or so ago, I found this coin. Some helpful folks on the metal detecting forum has told me it's a Draped Bust Large Cent. Is it remotely possible to get an exact date off this coin?

I've made scans and photos of both sides. I'll post the scans with hopes someone can see something. With my extreme lack of experience in coins, all I can make out is the nose section of the bust and a little bit of the middle section of the back. I can post the up close photos if they may be of use.

I have no intentions of getting rid of this coin, as it's the oldest one I've found and I enjoy showing it to people locally when talking about metal detecting.

The only thing I can tell for sure is that it is not one of the coins with the Rev of '95, but this doesn't narrow the date down much at all.

If you can carefully clean it up a bit more and take some larger photos, one of the experts like Indeetlib may be able to discern
a bit more from it.

DRAPED BUST LARGE CENTS (1796-1807)

It is one of these but I cannot tell which one from pictures, can you see a date?

Unless you can prove it is a 1799 it isn't worth much but it is very old and very cool. I think labeling it 1796-1807 would spark they story for most. You are going to want to show the rev too as the little details there will help with the date as all the dies where made by hand and have visible (most of the time) variances.

Hard to tell in the rev. pictures but with a little imagination it looks like it might be the 1/000 rev fraction. If it is that would narrow it down to 1801 or 1802.
