That sucks. What method of shipping was used? Did you open a claim?

USPS and yes the man has done what he can with the issue. I would like to get the coin though.

I don't blame you, nice coin. I have had cases where long after I had given up hope a coin gets to where it was going.

I've been through all the niceties of the ebay system and closed the case after the refund. That did not get me the coin . I sure hope its just fallen in a place that someone finds it.

Thanks for the responses. The coin arrived today . The postman had delivered the mail and left. I look and nothing new in the box. Half an hour later he comes back signature required. Happy ending. Pictures to follow.image

Glad it showed up--but I'm curious, what happens if the eBay case is closed with a refund? Do you have the option of reviving the original transaction, or does the coin have to go back to the seller.

    Or, did I misunderstand?

I hope you get to just complete the transaction again, that is a cool coin.

Stork, The closed case solution called for me to get the coin, and pay for it if it arrived. When the coin arrived he sent a payment request through paypal ,and I repaid it.image

Perfect! I'm so glad you got it, and I had no idea such a reasonable thing could be an eBay/Paypal resolution image.

    A great ending.
If that envelope could talk...I bet it acquired many FF miles.., enough for a free F-class trip.

last year I had a express mail -sign required, from Houston TX. ( not Ebay) was correctly addresses to my Canadian address. It was tracked to Australia's west coast. then back to Perth and Melbourne, then back to Houston as wrong address, undeliverable mail.
the Houston sender obviously asked questions at the post office. The clerk there requested additional payment due for it to be sent back to Houston from its "original destination in Australia". Sender pointed out that the address is in CANADA and is clearly addressed as such.
A cooler SV's mind apparently prevailed and "looked after it". Sender also got his original money back, as the item had a guaranteed delivery time.
How long did it take? 37 days by the time it came back to Houston. And then, surprise, 2 days to ship it to Canada to my door ( Express-guaranteed delivery).
What had happened? Someone at the US post office somewhere had " never heard of Canada " and wrote Australia next to the typed address with a felt pen.
    beats me....
I was happy to eventually get the coin, a beautiful Canadian 1932 50 cent piece.

when I grew up, back home, there was a saying when asked about a persons future plans:

well, you can always join the military, or any government agency, be a railway conductor or be a mailman. These positions guarantee you a worry free life.image

there is sadly and very obviously a lot of truth to it as we experience it nearly every day in one way or another.image
