Unfortunately, the color is due to the medal being polished so much over the years that the silvering is all worn off the surface.
I am very happy to have found this medal. I like to collect horses on medals, except as racers. One of the themes with which I have been constant. The challenge is finding an image that is a bit different. I have discovered that most horse or barnyard themes are standards rather than original.

So it was not intended to be a copper medal? Well, aside from the scratches (from polishing?) the copper-colour fields are nice to look.

I have noticed the horse theme, yes. Congrats on another fun addition.

Do these go in albums? or drawers? or SDB?

Most of my medals go into Lindner trays.

I have thought about doing the trays many times. I think it makes sense for medals because the diameters can vary so much, and some are very large. Whereas coins tend to be under 40 mm for the most part, so albums are more manageable. I do albums and 2x2 boxes. I love being able to pull them out and have a look.
