1875 H 5 CENT CANADIAN - VARIETIES?

Hello and good afternoon,

Can anyone point me to an online reference guide that illustrates the difference between the dates (small/large dates etc) on this coin?

All info in greatly appreciated. Thank you

I just had a SD PCGS AU 53 example. Never took any pictures of it though. The LD 5 hs quite fat mostly in the middle, the 7 in the SD is also doubled at the top.

On a side note Charltons guide is quite a handy book to have around for Canadian pieces. I think someone on the BST is getting rid of some.

Find a copy of Charlton's 64th, 2010 edition. Blue covers with photo of a 1967 Silver $. It contains photos of 5 varieties for 1875H 5c.

  • I concur, Charton's in an excellent reference, likewise is Whitman's "A Guide Book of
Canadian Coins and Tokens," 1st edition 2012, authored by Doctor Haxby.

Either should be available at most Coin stores, and both are available on e-bay.

Thanks all, that is perfect....I purchased one of these recently, as part of a larger collection, and wanted to be able to attribute properly. At a glance, it
appears that I have the small date, but at least I know what I have now image

    Thanks again!
