National POPPAGE! Pretty pleased

Pretty shocked my sub popped already. A majority of these came from the junk wax or raw from the National I purchased earlier this month. While the 1971's were slightly disappointing with the recoloration, believe it or not, I doubled my money on the purchase overall so I can't complain too much. I'm still not totally convinced about the recoloration and may try resubbing a few in a future sub. I'm incredibly pleased with the tough 1974 Topps Reggie Jackson PSA 9 (bought raw for $10 at the National and the second 9 I've hit in two months), the 1981 Topps were ripped from a BBCE box I bought at the National, along with the 1986 Fleer Olajuwon rookie for $30. The highlight of the sub is the 1978 Topps Molitor rookie (a true blazer). I bought this set off of ebay for about $100. I still can't self-sub a PSA 9 1978 George Brett (third 8 in two months) or any 1987 Bo Jackson's for my personal collection, but I will keep trying.

    Great job on the sub Dusty!!!

    Did you pick up the 1971's at the National or prior? I saw BBCE had a pretty nice set that I almost pulled the trigger on.

    Excellent submission! Nice 71's, 81's and 86's.

    81's and 86's are so tough. 3 Bonds 10's in one fell swope is awesome. Congrats!

    Mike, I did pick them up at the National. The dealer had just bought the set from a gentleman and I was the first set of eyes on it. When I inquired the price on the Blyleven and was told $20, I just had to take the time to sit down and go through the set. All the 1971's listed I bought for $200. It was actually the reason I wasn't able to meet up with you all at the BBCE booth on Saturday.

    You subbed these at the National under the special, or a higher service level?

    Neither, it was the August Collectors Club Special when I got home from the National. Crazy fast!

    The Catfish, Niekro, and Luzinski are blazers too. I've never uploaded a picture here, but I might try and figure it out to show you all in case I have missed something.

    They all look really nice, but it is hard to see recolorization unless they are in hand. Find a good light source and tilt them at every angle. I use my wife's Ott (spelling ?) light, it works really well.
