I have no idea whether or not the card is legit, but it bothers me when people put cards on ebay with crappy pictures if they are going to sell for anything more than $50.

Funny this thread popped up. I saw the card yesterday and had the same concerns, so I sent the seller an email via Ebay stating the card was very nice, was possibly interested in bidding, and could they take a better picture with their phone and text or email it to me. Pretty reasonable request and nothing but.......... Crickets. Think something is off here and the more I look at it the sketchier it seems.
I don't think that is a stain, it looks more like a shadow of the guy taking the picture. If you look at the front picture, you can see the guy's reflection that is located about at the same position as the shadow on the back picture. But, who knows. Crappy photos for a $500 card, that's for sure.
It doesn't look like a PSA case. The normal pins are not there, instead larger ones in different places. Also the font and pic look blurry, but I could be wrong.

YOu are 100% right, those pins are huge! I dont know if I have noticed that before. Card inside is defiantly fake, I wasnt sure if the case was a crack out or what but it did seem different. When you look at the top and bottom boarders there is a huge pin! And looks like only 2 pins total. This is fraud. I seem to see a lot of these type auctions coming from North Carolina over the years.
You guys are incredible. Great catch. The case also does not have a PSA logo on the bottom right-hand corner.
"Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood."
He sent me a reply today after I asked for new pictures which he has now added to Ebay. This one looks very suspicious and too nice for a straight 8. When all you sell are car manuals and then pop a PSA 8 1957 Mantle on there it looks really fishy.
Ok, you are right. I just grabbed one I had graded this month and its the same. I had one next to me with a cert of 2147 that didnt match this one. But my new one with cert 230 looked like the gretzky.
1) guy sells nothing but Benz manuals by the 100's and then puts a 57 Mantle PSA out of nowhere?
2) look closely at the card - that thing is closer to a 10 than an 8. It is 50/50 all around, white borders like a 2014 card, no print marks or snow. Would hate to get that thing home for $4k+ only to find it is not real. What happens to the hobby if someone figures out how to beat the graded case???

This one has 0 pins except on small one in the bottom left corner on be back.

That case is the new one released last year at the National..no round pins more like dashes..notice psa logo bottom right.

Check out how "Edmonton" is higher than "Oilers".

That is true. Whats up with that. Does this card look ok?
<< <i>Probably just the scanner skipped...I think the Gretzky is ok. >>
It's a photo (not a scan), isn't it?
