The centering on yours is definitely better. My concern would be some of the wear along your edges. The other card has the typical consistent wear of an O Pee Chee cut, whereas yours seems to have some wearing of the blue specifically along the right border. Either way, your card is a beauty and at a minimum a very high end PSA 8. Good luck if you submit.
Centered teardrop may command an 8.5 premium at sale anyway-- I say price it like that in your ask if selling. That is a detail for which some will pay handsomely.

I think I might just leave well enough alone. I think it might bring a premium as is if I were to sell it as is...
<< <i>So tough to predict OPC grading with the rough cut. Will that top left corner be considered rough cut or hold it in the PSA 8 holder? You do have the teardrop centered on yours though. If I were to get one, that is a must. >>

I believe your card is accurately graded and will not bump. On the right edge, right about where the rail of the slab ends, there is damage that actually extends onto the surface of the card. In my experience, that nets you an 8 every time.

That's basically along the lines of what I was thinking. If I saw this card in an 8.5 holder and it belonged to someone else, I wouldn't be shocked although it is a very nice 8...

Yeah, If you compare the edges of yours and the 8.5, the 8.5 has the classic rough cut but it doesn't affect the border surface.

I agree 100%. Face up I just think my 8 is awesome. It's well centered and doesn't have the tear drop issue. I just wouldn't buy that 8.5 at current market prices for my collection. And it's heavily O/C on top of it...

Do you think that one was caused by the lip of the holder or just coincidence? I'm not a fan of the cards sliding around in the holder and potentially damaging the edges. I may be one of the few who actually prefers the 'card condoms' in the PSA holders where the card is more snug.
OP, I agree a 9 is not likely, but since the half-point is primarily focused on centering, I think this one has a good chance.

I am the same as you. The movement thing drives me crazy. With some condition sensitive cards, I actually requested the plastic sheets even though the cards were standard sized. With movement and no sleeve or sheet as PSA uses, comes potential damage.
I will say the slab has to be beat pretty good for damage to happen. I tested it once. I took a Troy Aikman PSA 9 Pinnacle foil card and repeatedly hammered it on my counter. I started lightly and increased the intensity. Eventually I ended up with some decent edge damage right inline with the end of the rail.
I can't believe the 8.5 didn't get docked in the grading process because of the blurriness of the photo. Just look at the skates on the 8.5 to the 8. And Wayne's face looks melted on the 8.5. The 8 definitely has better overall appearance.
