Last one for today - Jeter GU helmet?

So, you can tell I got some new stuff. I purchase a collection and I'm just now going through the items.

I believe this is a game used Jeter helmet, but I need your opinions to sway me one way or another.

Obviously with the wear, it looks legit. What gets me is that it has a general MLB sticker - which just means it's authentic, but does it mean it's an authentic helmet? Or an authentic game used helment? I feel so conflicted. image

The guy I bought the collection from owned his own sports collectible store and was from NY.

Maybe, but I'd be skeptical. Two reasons; the MLB sticker on the back appears to be over another sticker removed at one point, I have never seen that in other helmets. Also, I know from 2007-2014 he wore a size 7 1/4. This is a size 7. This would be an older helmet (possibly 1990's), but I can't imagine his helmet size changing too much.

After all, we are not talking about Barry Bonds here!

They usually use the same style font for the number 2 on the front and back.
  • I'm pretty well versed in game used. I'd move on.

The ear flap is on the wrong side for it to be Jeter's helmet, is it not?

Also, that's an NY *jersey* logo. The jersey, hat, and helmet NY logos are all different.

  • It would be easier and save time to say what is correct on this helmet. Which is...not a lot. Unfortunately.

So many obvious incorrect signs. Hope you didn't pay much overall.
  • You guys are awesome. Of all the little things, the ear flap is the biggest giveaway. This was never claimed to be anything special by the seller, I just was quickly rummaging through the lot and taking pictures and got excited because it was worn. Just for fun, I'll take some pictures of other things I got in the collection and will post for your viewing pleasure.

    Thanks again
