I wouldn't say it should be expected, but it's definitely possible. On a blue flip, only the auto is authenticated. It could be on a legit, unaltered card or on a reprint/altered.
I would suspect that most are not altered and here are the reasons I think that.... - anyone who does not belong to CU collectors club can submit to psa/dna so that means only blue flip for them - some people find it a better value to have them done in blue flip. I think specials are a bit better. - in most cases, people want their cards to be 100% authentic even if signed. While it is a great alternative if you get a card that is altered signed, more than likely its nearly impossible to tell if it's altered. - highly doubtful that any modern cards in blue flips are altered. What would be the need? - some people just dont care which flip as long as it's authenticated and slabbed
My concern was that if a card is getting slabbed through PSA/DNA for the auto only, then the submitter might decide that "fixing" the card up a little to improve its eye-appeal might help it's re-sale value. So, when I saw a really nice PSA 8-looking vintage card with an autograph on it in a PSA/DNA holder, I wondered.
