Picked up 2 cases (1264 sets of 1987 (1990) BDK baseball sets for $400. Just grossly misrepresented all together. Other than that I think of a 1997 Finest gold atomic refractor /74 for $450 (didn't even have his name is the titel) that I flipped for 9800. Oh, forgot about this one...wishin I had it back right about now...a 1965 Topps baseball box (caught the listing in the first 90 seconds) with a pack missing for $1250...that's right. Sold it same weekend for 8000. It was the real deal
Back when I was in the hunt for both flavors of the 1962 Post FB Sam Baker cards (both the black and red asterisk versions) I ran across an auction for the red version (supposedly the rarer of the two) that not only had the name misspelled but was also listed in the wrong category. As I usually do I just put it on my watch list. When it came time to for the auction to end, I got distracted that day and forgot all about it and missed out on it. The bad part is that it ended @ $0.99 with NO BIDS. The seller re-listed it with a better description and in the correct category and it sold for over $100, which was what I was expecting the first time, if only I would have bid once
I haven't really had any that were card related. All mine were car, or more specifically, muscle car related. Only one was an Ebay purchase. I got a set of big block Chevy aluminum heads for $750. It was a Buy it Now that I just happened to see within a few minutes of it being listed. A couple weeks later I was offered $2000 but turned it down. I still have them. On a car forum I got a complete 1965 Corvette instrument cluster for $100. It's worth $500 to $600. Still have it. My best deal was at an estate auction that had a lot of car parts. I bought 2 box lots, about 10 boxes total, of old car parts for $6. I trashed about 30% of the stuff. I still have about 30% that I don't know what the parts are for. I sold the other 40% on Ebay for over $700. Not too bad for a $6 investment. I realize that this is a card forum but I was pretty happy with these deals. James
A 1980 Wbtv Ripken I won in a auction for $1,000 raw and after it was graded it went for $over 4k. The seller listed the word reprint in the description I think by accident but is was 100% authentic.
I picked up a T206 Kleinow Boston (the rarer variation) back in 2008, that was listed as a Kleinow New York (reason being, PSA had mislabeled the flip and the seller didn't catch it).
It was a normal auction that ran for 7 days or so, so I guess I was the only one who was paying attention and realized what the card really was.
I paid $64.50 (the Boston variation usually goes for around $300).
White letter 69 Mantle signed. Listed on ebay as signed 69 mantle but failed to mention it was a white letter. Bought for 450 buy it now. Only 2 graded by PSA and the other is authentic.

9,800 for a 97 gold atomic refractor? Is that correct? Who was the player?
My best is one where I had no idea about the screwup until after I got the card. I bought a PSA 6 Fergie Jenkins rookie, and after I received it realized that it was a Topps Venezuelan rather than the regular Topps (it was misslabbed). I got the mechanical error corrected.
Probably (2) midgrade '57 BB "Baker/Bakep" error cards, one I spotted on the back scan, the other came as part of the lot--did not know I was getting it until it showed up. Cost into both cards under $10, actual value= $200+. I kept one for the PC, graded a 4.5 (the other one I sold on eBay for I think $100 or so).
My best raw pick-ups over the years would have to include a raw 1962 Jim Brown that graded an 8 that I picked up to under $200. And probably my best pick-up was a 1953 Lou Groza that I took a chance on that had a lousy scan based only on great centering that I was going to use for my '53 raw set. I got it for ~$30 and was floored when I received it. Ended up grading as an 8 and is in my team registry set instead of my raw set!
Scored (all baseball unopened) 1981 Topps Cello box, 1981 Topps Rack Box, 1982 Fleer Wax box, 1985 Donruss complete set plus a few various other boxes for less than $25 total delivered. Sold by a lady on ebay within the past year.
I found a buy it now listing, within minutes of it being posted, for a Walter Payton autographed football authenticated by his Celebrity Appearances company.
I got it for $300 where these were consistently selling for around $600. It still resides in my collection to this day.
One of my best was buying a 1974 Topps baseball set listed in "excellent" condition that I picked up for $200. The entire set basically had Gem Mint corners and I received PSA 9's out of the Winfield, Schmidt, a few Aaron special cards, Munson, Seaver, Carew, Griffey, and a crap load of low pop commons. When it was all said and done, I cleared close to $2500.

Before Simpsons stuff exploded(and subsequently crashed), I made a lot of hay running searches as "Simpons" and "Simsons".
I got a few items at 1/10 of the market price at the time.
