1682 Salzburg Taler

One of the better designs in my opinion. Just received the top coin and now I can say that this is one of the most eye appealing coins in my collection. The seller's image is nice and my lousy pocket cam image tries to capture the color on this. Will need professional imaging yet this is a super pleasing coin for me, even better than the MS-63 below. Made my day!

That is a beauty. The bar was set high with that MS-63.

The pet duck on the reverse makes me smile.

Super eye appeal, looks to be exquisitely sharp. As you hinted, the pictures probably don't even begin to do it justice.

In paying a little closer attention to both coins, I would not have expected the degree of difference in the overall sharpness of strike between the two grades, 63 vs 64.
Not being familiar with the series is that typical of these grades? Or is it a case where that 63 was perhaps a marginal 63 and the 64 is at the other end of the spectrum being a very near gem example. Just curious, because again, the 64, when compared to the other coin, is so super sharp.

JohnnyCache - in hand (and will show once imaged properly) a tad better in terms of wear on high points and "screaming" eye appeal.

I second all the comments a special amazing newp...

The 63 while it seems like JC said...I suspect the EA is spectacular for the grade...you don't see the luster in that pic either...

They both totally rock and the new 64 is a monster of a pickup nuff said

P.S. Your "lousy" picture probably is more what this gem looks like - don't underestimate your eye

I would have been hard pressed to find fault with 63 example but the individual portraits on the upgrade are amazing. And for that scale!
