An ancient minted with a date

Tetradrachm of Maximian, Alexandria - 19mm 6.3g

The Le minted on the reverse of this piece indicates it was minted in year 5 of Maximian's first reign. That dates it to 289/290 A.D.

It's the only ancient I have with a 'date' on it.

Many ancient coins have dates in one form or another, although not all are this obvious. Great coin by the way, there is a lot going for these late Alexandrian Tetradrachms.

I think the consular date on this one puts it to about 143 AD.
