I remember thinking Fred was a sure fire HOFer when I was a kid. >>

I thought the same thing when I was a kid. He was Gehrig to David Justice's Ruth in my mind though. I paid like $19 for his 86 Donruss rookie card, I think it booked like $35 or so at the time. >>

That being said, Allen and I actually have something in common: He sold off some of his collection to purchase a sports car (Porsche). I too am in the process of selling off some of my collection to fund my latest project (a 1979 Trans Am).

All joking aside, I'm a newer guy around here. I read the boards for awhile before I decided to join and since I joined in March, I've met and talked to some really good guys and I learn new things here everyday. The knowledge that can be gained here is unbelievable. I try to leave the drama out of it, but I've come to realize that when you have a bunch of guys on a message board talking sports and cards, there is going to be a differing of opinions that's the way it goes. If everybody were to agree with everyone on everything I would think that it would make for a boring forum. Collecting diversity is also what appeals to me here. People collect all sorts of different things, but I don't feel that one should bash another for what the collect. That's just weak IMO. The boards are also a hobby for some. If someone wants to come on here all day and answer my questions and teach me things that I didn't know before, that's a beautiful thing. Who would begrudge that? And as far as alts and all that does it matter? If their knowledgeable and share some things then great.
