The 80s are starting to show some life lately in general. I think the Dodgers doing well has helped as well (Donny being one the inconic rookies of the 80s)
Count me as a huge Will Clark guy. I grew up in the SF Bay Area and yes anyone around my age (36) who was a Giants fan idolized the guy. I can believe there are lots of people willing to pay for his cards. I am about to start a collection of cards of him in Giants uniform (and I almost exclusively collect basketball).
I remember when he was on the road his answering machine message was a limerick that went something like : Will the Thrill has gone away and will be back another day.
I think I have the 1997 Skybox E-X 2000 Credentials Will Clark card. I was doing that set back when the cards came out. If I remember correctly I have 60-70% of the set. I went through my card closet a week or so ago cleaning out some junk and found these and several other partial sets I had forgotten about. None of mine are graded. James
Edit: I went through the Credentails I have and I don't have the Will Clark. I do have 56 of the 100 card set.

I financed a lot of my collection back in 2008 through grading and flipping to those guys.

It only takes 2!
Will Clark, Jeter, Pedroia. Guys who played with heart, and loved the city they played for.
1992 Classic PSA 10
There were other pop 1 PSA 10s in his latest auction, but they pale in comparison to the price Will Clark realized.

That was the low "bidder", there were 2 that fought it out at 69+. Keep in mind that the only sale that is shown is .99 for a raw example.

The card would have easily gotten $100 in a straight sale to one of the big Clark guys.
