POLL - Which young player do you think will have the best career?

Which of these 5 players do you think will have the best career? By the way, the aggregate age of these 5 young players (104) is only 2 years older than the oldest living ex-MLB player, Connie Marrerro. As a collector of the 1952 Topps set in autographed form, Marrerro is also one of the toughest cards to obtain. Not only is he a HI #, but he moved to his birth country of Cuba soon after he retired.

I would say Trout followed by Harper in a close second.

I went with Machado. I think the sky is the limit for this kid. Within the next few years I think he will get stronger and a lot of his doubles will become homers......

Trout is off to one of the greatest starts to a career ever and he's twenty one. What he's doing makes Griffey at the same time period look pedestrian. Harper is talented but seems a bit injury prone. Machado would be my third pick. He's got a chance to be great A Rod minis PEDs and an all time glove in the field.

I went with Trout. Seems to be the smart money pick. I like Puig but he presents a couple of concerns.

I'm going to go off the board with Kyle Seager of the Mariners. Two years in the league but a solid hitter from day one. Doug

Wil Myers appears to have been deleted off of your list Doug!
  • Nice poll Doug! I went with Trout (based on pure explosiveness - the guy is pure dynamite), love the Machado kid...but I am really psyched to watch Iglesias play D at short for the next ten years in Detroit...that kid has an incredible glove.

I agree that Trout is the most sure fire of these guys. However, he certainly does not make Griffey Jr., look pedestrian.

After their 2nd full seasons with each of them being 21, a few key stats look like this:

    HR Griffey 38, Trout 35,
    RBI Griffey 141 Trout 99
    Runs Griffey 152 Trout 149
    Hits Griffey 299 Trout 209

I know that Trout is also an exceptional outfielder, but anyone who remembers seeing Griffey Jr, highlights on ESPN, certainly knows that his defense was up there with anybody.

Trout- one of only a handful of Rangers opponents that I actually respect. Keep in mind that I only see these guys when they play Texas, so I don't have a whole lot of data to work with, but this guy impresses me. Seems to have a decent bat, tremendous speed, good fielding, and a LOT of heart. I'd make room for him on the Rangers anytime if I had a vote, and that's one of the best compliments I can give a player.

Profar on the other hand does nothing for me. I've wanted the Rangers to trade him and his "potential" for a couple of years now to get a player that can actually play NOW at a high level and help put them over the top

Mike ... that's funny, as the only reason I put Profar on the list was I thought you would vote for him. HAHAHA

    I voted for Yasiel Puig.

This guy is super talented and has superstar written all over him. I have a feeling we will be seeing this guys face plastered all over many products in the coming years and will put up some solid numbers.
