Archive history for Cayón, and Martí Hervera ???

I'm trying to research a coin's auction history. I tried CoinArchives, but to no avail. I tried SixBid, but could only view back to February 2012. I didn't see my coin in any of those listings so I'm guessing I need to go further back.

I have also viewed Aureo's archives, searching their PDFs one-by-one ... I went back to January 2010 and found nothing so I'm hoping it will be in either Martí or Cayón between 2010-2012.

Not certain, but perhaps Modern Coin Search. Says it lists those firms, but I'm not sure if you can sort by company.

As sad as it may sound, I've found it faster to actually buy the catalog and look through it. It can't hurt to build your auction catalog collection either, but it's impressive just how bad coin auction houses are at maintaining databases.

I get the impression their databases are highly maintained but expire from the aggregator websites after 12-14 months. Aureo has an awesome backlog of PDF files on their own website. The two in my OP have no such thing. But when I searched Sixbid there were results. That leads me to believe older files are floating around somewhere ... and printed editions may not be needed.

Thanks for the Modern site I will try searching. The coin is dated 1789 but you never know :/

The mcsearch site is great. And I believe it's called "Modern" because it's sister is acsearch (ancients) and compared to those everything is modern.

I recently got a 1789 Fonrobert medal, the one proclaiming Carlos IV's accession in Lima.

It has gorgeous toning, which is good because it's easier to search (hit Ctrl+F, search "1789" or "medallas" etc. etc. and scan the images).

All I know is the prior transaction took place in March 2012. So the sale before that one, which happened at one of these two auction houses, was before 3/12.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it image

    Oh, here's the image ...
