The characters and size of characters look typical of chopmarked 8 reales of this period.

What worries me is that I'm not seeing the "Dragon's Teeth" on either side of the lower central ray. Standardized dies in all branch mints by 1887 all included this anti counterfeiting feature. YQQ, check out the area around that lower central ray under magnification and see if you can find the teeth.

    Thank you
I can not see any dragon choppers...

AND, i do not have THE coin.....
coin is in Europe for sale...
just thought is does not look right... It is not my bag... I am basically only Canadian.. Old stuff.
Seller sometimes has interesting stuff and I have done well with him before.
so anyone, feel free to bid....
BUT you have to have a German address i believe, or get approved to bid from the US.
He writes it has a Chinese Counterstamp on it..
he has a few more mex coins there.

Standard dies had dragon teeth, to prevent counterfeit, and this seems to have none... I would wait for another auction lot image

The one in the 1st pic has the dragon teeth i think i can see them. What i dont like is the die crack does not match up. I think i would pass on this one image

I'm still not seeing them. Must be getting old image Anywho, if the teeth are there - the rest of the die elements look fine (including die breaks often seen on these later dates Zacatecas).

WillieBoyd2, in 1892 all branch mint dies were made in Mexico and were standard. If the anti-counterfeiting device is not there, it's most likely a counterfeit.
