Hi,

I am a new member, with ambitions of starting a registry set. I have one question (probably many more to come) right now. As I was searching other registry's sets, I noticed that a few places had a "Pop Higher" number that was greater than the "Pop" number. How can that be?

    Welcome to the boards.

    I think what you are seeing is the pop for let's say an MS65 coin, than you see the pop for all coins higher than that pop (the total of MS66, MS67, etc.)

    I think I'll start with Walking Liberty halves. I know it may not be as interested as some other sets, but I have to take several factors into account - on big one is $. plus, everyone says to collect what is interesting to you, and WL halves are interesting for me. I really like the design of them.

    I am a little overwhelmed looking at other peoples' registry sets, especially some of the nicer ones. WOW! There are some nice coins in there. I am not trying for a top-10 set or anything, just want to complete one. I figure a range of MS 63/65 for the newer ones, but will have to drop down to circulated examples on the early Walkers.

    Welcome, and good luck with your Walker set. Some of the early dates aren't easy to find slabbed in circulated grades, so it will be a challenge.

    I can understand how you feel when looking at peoples sets. It can be intimidating. Like the wise guys say "Forget about it." I'm sure your coins are or will be great.

    Welcome.

    That sounds like a good set to start. The Registry has two short sets for Walking Liberties- Late Date Set (1933-1947) and the Short Set (1941-1947). Those should be a lot easier and affordable to complete.

    walkers ie. walking liberty halves are great coins, extremely popular, one of the most beautiful coin designs, and copied by the mint in the current silver american eagle design for their non circulating legal tender "coin" NCLT and the walkers are certianly doable for many collectors in a nice grade and even a short set is great for many!! also an example of the proofs is a great coin also and within many budgets for a nice example
