I spotted this fake

Its weights 23.7 gms according to the seller. Should be 27. 73

Note the Date . The script is wrong and the metal around the rim seems to have overflowed into the denticles.

I must confess that I wouldn't have seen any red flags like the weight or the lettering being off, but I did notice the soft strike straightaway.

German New Guinea coins must be amongst the most beautiful coins ever made
the scarcest of them is the 2 Mark piece with only 13000 escaping the melt.

I used to have 5 5 mark pieces ( only about 19000 survived the melting pot) plus all the 1 , 2 and 10 pfennig, 1/2 mark, 1 mark, 2 and 5 mark. Some of them I had quite a few in grades from MS 60 to MS 67 and some raw
never had the 10 and 20 mark gold pieces as they command astronomical money.
Some were graded by PCGS and others by NGC.
About 5-7 years or so back, I had the obsession that I had to buy every one of these that I could find, either on Feebay or at international auctions.
One 1 mark piece I bought at the time turned out to be made in the PRC. I contacted the seller and let him know, he immediately wanted to cut the price in half. I insisted on a full refund, which I did get and surely got blocked by him. and am blocked to this day.
Ebay seller was / is ASYN .
I sold / traded privately all 56 coins of the series that I had. Some to a Swiss and some to a German collector. Some I traded for Canadian Victoria silver coins.
Today is the first day of the rest of my life

ASYN sell under several different eBay handles.
I have never bought a coin from him & never will since I believe his sales practices are, at best, questionable and at worst, unethical.
