Money in the bank cards

Do you have a part of your collection that is essentially money in the bank? I have a some stuff that I came across that fits no where in my personal collection. However, if I were to put them for sale, they would sell quickly and for a lot of money. I have zero emotional connection to them and hardly even look at them. But, it's "money in the bank" and can be used almost like a commodity.
I thought of selling it and using the funds to buy stuff that I actually want, but then realized that the stuff I want will not appreciate as much. I'm probably one of the few people on here that will readily admit that I care very much how valuable my collection is. While I do enjoy chasing cards and building sets, at the same time I consider this an investment. Anytime I'm committing the kind of money I am to a hobby, it is clearly more than a hobby (for me at least).
So back to my original question; do you have anything like this in your collection? And if so, how do you handle it?

I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

Do I have anything I consider "money in the bank"? No, not in sports cards. I have 1 box of cards left that I am going to take to my grave. It has value, but not enough that it could bail me out of a financial hardship. But, I enjoy the hobby again because of it!
And if so, how do you handle it? like grenades with the pins pulled out.

Best answer ever! I'm going to steal that line at first opportunity.
