My wife is away and I just did something really bad

I’m now left with feelings of regret and sorrow after instant gratification is long gone. You see I had a bad week at work, alone at the house feeling bad for myself I needed a fix.
So I ripped and ripped and ripped some more.
First I started with two boxes of 2012 Topps Chrome Football. My first rip of these and a lot of fun, all kinds of Griffin and Luck’s and a more refractors then I know what to do with.
Then I made a bad mistake of digging out two boxes of 1993 Finest Baseball. Probably not a great idea following the Chrome with something that is essentially one hit and you’re done. Pulled a likely 10 JT Snow refractor followed by a Bonds refractor which was exciting until I realized it’s so poorly cut its garbage.
Not done and craving more…..
Up next was a 2009 Bowman Draft baseball box. 3rd box I’ve ripped and worst yet, never seen any of that Trout guy yet. Best card was a Billy Hamilton base!
And alas I still needed something to kill the craving and there looking at me was a 2001 Bowman Chrome Baseball box with surely a 10 Pujols auto refractor inside. My first rip of one of these and it was fun. A gold Billy Koch refractor, some never made it refractor auto and a cool x-fractor of Miguel Cabrera first Bowman Card.
And so she gets back tonight and I’m done ripping and back to re-stocking the collection until the next event happens. To recap:
2012 Topps Chrome Football boxes – Great fun will rip again, thanks to all for recommending.
1993 Finest baseball – very unfulfilling ripping a box for one card knowing the rest is garbage. I did fill my memories of ripping retro for me.
2009 Bowman Draft Baseball – same feeling as Finest, almost everything goes into a storage box. Better off buying a Trout directly.
2001 Bowman Chrome Baseball – Great box to rip. Lots of key rookies and boarder line guys make it fun. Lots refractors and other inserts. Will do again.
So learn from me my friends. Lock up those cards and stick to PSA graded packs to block you from rip rip ripping.
Until next the time she leaves town. I see you looking at me, teasing me you sexy little 2003-04 Finest Basketball boxes.

At least you have something to show for it, much better then what a Casino would have left you with.
Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.
And Casinos don’t stay in business because they lose.

Interesting thing with the Finest, collation was terrible and both boxes essentially mirrored each other so I'll either have none or 3-4 of Fisk. I forgot about the jumbo cards which are cool, may want to make a run at building a set of those.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Not sure how much your wife knows about the hobby, but if shes like most, and you told her "I just did something really bad" and then told her what you've told us, im sure shed laugh at you lol
something really bad would be hitting the casino, the bar, and/or the strip joint

Overall experience? Priceless.
I had 2 moments of weakness this past week - I told my wife I was done for a long time only to buy 2 more games! Both - I've been waiting over 4 years!
Thanx for sharing.

...or the neighbor's wife.
<< <i>I didn't know that Pujols auto was a redemption, if correct saves me from buying anymore boxes. I know Ichiro was a redemption. >>
Stop buying it. Pujols was a redemption.
so nobody can see you with them!
Now I have to hide these empty boxes before she gets home ahhhh where is the neighbours recycle bin at.
If I'm correct based on all your advice above my cover is to say I got loaded and went to the strip club with the young girl next door for the night. Say nothing about spending on cards and expected costs coming for re-stocking and grading fees.
I'll let you know how it plays out, thanks!
Are we saying the 500 autos is actually more like 350 or so?

Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoyed!!
- I would encourage all collectors to post a video of their collection - I have found it to be a very rewarding way to share my sports cards!!
<< <i>I was always of the belief that the early 2001 bowman chrome boxes had pujols as a redemption, but the later boxes released had the card included. Does anyone know 100% for sure? >>
ALL were redemptions. On a side note, the redemption card actually sells pretty well.
<< <i>PS just dawned on me speaking of Pujols redemptions. I assume not all redemptions were found or found in time. What happes to the unredeemed cards sitting at Topps?

They make it out the backdoor. Trust me, all of those cards are accounted for.

And you know this how? Some folks here make it sound like the Topps Factory was run out of a wing at San Quentin.
Always buying Bobby Cox inserts. PM me.

I see some back-door stuff show up on Ebay from time to time. 2006 Bowman Chrome Gold Refractors w/o serial numbers, 2007 Bowman Chrome Tim Lincecum refractors with fake autos and either no serial number or a fake one. 2009 Bowman Red w/o serials (was supposed to be a 1/1 card).
