2004 Somalia Guitar Coins

I came across a bunch of 2004 Somali Guitar coins that I put away
some time after they came out. I'm not sure but I vaguely recall that perhaps
the red Gibson guitar in that series might have been made in silver as well as
nickel. Does anyone recall if some of the red Gibson type were actually made of silver??

TIA

Harvey

  • I noticed that a few of my 2004 Gibson Les Paul pieces are silver plated
and some aren't... Some were also gold plated. If they're listed in the coin
publications as silver and gold plated, I assume that the plating was done at the
mint... not like the US State Quarters that were plated outside of the mint and sold
    as novelties...
