Euro Coins...

Hi guy's, I have a bunch of Euro coin,all in different countries,denominations,and years. Are these collectable,as well as,holding on to? Thanks in advance for any replys.

Don't read too much into the non-reply. We rarely have threads on this forum about modern euro coins, so I think it is more a function of interest (or lack thereof) for the issues rather than direct commentary on collectibility.

I have an interest in Euro coins and paper money. I find it very difficult to locate a cynvient souurce or information on them. Has anubody come up with an Euro catalogue yet?

Seriously though, I did grab a (prefilled) euro album and that has been the extent of my 'collecting'. I hear there are some that are collectible like from the tiny countries, but I don't keep track. Occasionally I'll separate out what's in my wallet to keep one of each unique coin. Then I forget I've done that and I'll spend them and next time I look I wonder where they went.

I think it could be a fun and relatively un-costly collection but right now my collecting bug is pretty dormant.

I assume it does. I was hoping for a smaller cheaper catalogue. Does Krause break the coins down by mintmark?

I do have a small pocketbook about "Foreign Coins". I think it is a Krause publication? It does have a few of the prices for Euro coins. It's about 7 or 8 years old ( the book). Only paid,about 10.00$

Generally speaking Euro coins are much like our pocket change, you are not likely to find anything worth more than face value. Of course, that does not stop me from looking through my change when I am in Europe and adding any new date/mint mark/country to my collection (hoard).

The first year coins from Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican carried a high value initially and may still have value over face. I would think that you cold sell any Vatican euro coin for more than face. The silver 5 & 10 euro coins have some collector value over face/silver content.

Every so often I dump my duplicate fractional euro coins into the donation bucket as I transfer through Schiphol airport.

I agree as above, euro coins are like our common pocket change. If you plan to travel back to Europe, hold to them for spending.
With the smallest bill being 5 euros, you really need a change purse in Europe.
