1000th post giveaway-results in-winners and correct answers announced

I joined this forumn in Feb of 2007. I have met many new fellow coin collectors since then and have had many questions answered through this forumn. In the spring I will be meeting in person Lord M. Since I am coming up on my 1000th post I decided to have a giveaway. Nothing fancy, but perhaps something you don't have already. Last month my daughter and son-in-law invited my wife(happily married 42 years) to join them in a cottage at Cape Cod for 4 days. Had a great time. While wondering around the Cape, I came on a coin shop. Purchased a small bag of foreign coins. The contest is as follows. There are four questions. The closest to the right answers will win a choice of three prizes. The second closest gets to pick next and the third place will receive the remaining prize.

#1-How many coins did I receive for my $20?
#2-What denomination was the largest? Extra credit for naming the country.
#3-What denomination was the smallest? Extra credit fror naming the country.
#4-What was the oldest date?
#5-How many were in the 1800's

The prizes
#1-Canadian small cents-1920-1921-1928-1929-1931-1932-1933-1934-1935-1937
#2-1944d 1/10 guilden in au from Curacao.((.0288 asw)
#3-1923 one franc from france-1928 10 rappan from switzerland-1905 ten cents from Belgium
Contest will close at midnight on October 23, 2012.

DAonlyBG won first -ICsoccer won second and Aurora Rarities won third.

The correct answers were- For my $20 I received 96 coins costing 21 cents each. The largest was a 1965 Churchill crown. The smallest was a one milliemme from egypt. The oldest was an 1883 one penny from Great Britain. This was the only 1800 coin in the lot.

  • And the results are: On my part I was very disappointed in the number of particapants. I ran it for one week and only three fellow collectors entered. In order to determine a winner I gave points on a scale of one to three. Closest to the right answer received three points-second received two and third one point. There was a tie for first place. In order to break the tie I will ask one final question. The largest coin was a crown. What date was it? Icsoccer and DAonlyBg were tied for first so they get to pick the date. As soon as we have a winner I will announce it. Aurora rarities gets third place. If the three of you will pm me your addresses I will get the prizes sent out as soon as we have a winner. Thanks for participating guys. I had fun doing it even though there wasn't much response.

Sorry so few people entered! I hope next time you'll get plenty more. Thanks again for putting it together, though, I'm really curious what the actual answers are.

Anyway, my guess for the date is 1965.

    Wow!

Only 1000 posts. As much quality as you've posted I'd have guessed you had far more.

Congratulations on 1000 even if it might take half a century to get your title.
