Probably 10 years ago, I bought a 1954-55 Topps Hockey Milt Schmidt card raw for $75. Got it graded as a PSA 7 and sold it on Ebay for $980. It is the last card in the set, so it's tough to find a nice one, but I was amazed - and happy.

A couple of years ago, I went through a stack of 1971 Topps BB and sent in an Al Oliver (#388) from the set. For a relatively common card that I probably had 50 cents into, it pulled a PSA 9 and I sold it on Ebay for close to $300

I've only graded a few cards. My best was a 1979 Stop and Go Set I purchased on the bay for about $15. The Staubach and Payton both graded 9's and netted about $110 on resale.

Bought a 1930 Wills Famous Golfers Walter Hagen for $27 (including shipping) from England. The picture on the auction was horrible and I took a chance.

It came back a PSA 9 and I sold it for $2250 as part of me liquidating my golf card collection

Part of me wishes I still had it as it is the only PSA 9 graded to date but, that is still a sweet ROI!

(edited - I was shorting myself $50!) It was $2250

Sorry, not trying to toot my own horn, but I forgot that I purchased a complete set of Ogdens Guinea Gold golf cards for $950 about 4 years ago from Germany. Got all 18 un-numbered cards graded and they came back as the highest graded set in the registry. Sold them individually off ebay and made $4200.

I bought a stack of about 80 1986 fleer commons for 10 cents each. The gum residue was still on them. I got a PSA 10 John Bagley that sold for $450 and a PSA 10 Joe Barry Carroll that sold for $2.50. so $.20 + $10 grading fee netted $700.00

I bought a raw partial 66 Topps set for $400 many years ago-sight unseen. Palmer was a 9, Rose an 8.5, Maris an 8, and Mantle a 7. I traded the Palmer for a PSA 8 59 Mantle. There were many 8s and 9s in the lot. That is easily the best find of my collecting career. I sold a PSA 9 65 Frank Lary for $1000 when it was 1 of 1. I do not know what I paid ($2-3?), it was just one of many raw commons I sent off to be graded.

In February I bought a poorly listed 1975 Mini set from a local coin dealer who had it on ebay. I paid 514 for it because several key cards had strong centering in the photos. It turned out to be a genuine nm/mt+ to mint set with the best overall centering I have ever seen. I graded over a dozen tens and countless 9s, including the bext examples I had ever seen of many of the lowest population cards. In the end, I sold over $20k in cards, while keeping many for my own set as well. Some of the cards I sold privately were part of a set break recently and sold for even more than I got. They were that nice. I've had nice hits through the years, but that one takes the cake, by far.

Picked up a 1970 Milton Bradley Pete Rose on ebay raw for $10 to round out a $5 sub and it came back a PSA 10. At the time it was over $100 card. Not sure what it is now.

My best was the 1985 fleer vending boxes I grabbed for $200 this year, which after grading nabbed about $1000 in PSA 10's.
    Registry Sets:
    T222's PSA 1 or better

I opened a pack of 1986-87 Fleer basketball I bought from BBCE in 2005 for ~$250 and pulled a Worthy, Checklist and Kareem that when subbed all received PSA 10s. I sold the Worthy for $2001.01, the Checklist for $4750.00 and the Kareem for $1200 on eBay. So ~$250 plus some grading fees became $7951.01.

Best flip for me took some work but ended up well for me. I bought a high grade 1971 set from Mastro which was mostly raw. The Claude Raymond graded out 8 the first time I subbed it. Years later when PSA came out with the half point scale, I sent it in for review and it bumped to a 9. I ended up trading it for $5000 worth of cards. With that one card, I was able to pick up a PSA 8.5 Seaver RC, 67 Mantle, Palmer, Perez and Maris plus a ton of PSA 8s to fill in my 1971 and 1967 sets.

I have mentioned this story before, but back a few years ago, I found a person advertising a raw 1966 Topps Koufax on ebay. On the scan of the back you could see the "Made in Canada". I paid about $45 plus grading and it came back a PSA 8 which at the time was only the 3rd OPC PSA 8. A week later it sold on ebay for $4150, you can still see it on VCP website.imageimage

In the mid-late 90s, before I ever heard of PSA, I was buying 1986 Fleer basketball sets w/o Jordan for $40-$50, and cherry picking them for a mint set.

In 1999, I started subbing them and got a GEM MT 10 on #88 Paul Pressey. I checked the Pop report, and it was the first 10 graded. I put it up on ebay and within 12 hours, I had 5 emails asking me to end the auction and name a price.

I ended up making a deal with a guy in Florida for $2000 cash and 8 different PSA 9 1986 Fleer Stickers (including Kareem!)
