Ebay Vent

First off, I honestly can't answer why I bothered listing the card in the first place. Just clearing out junk. I lised the Topps Puckett below with that scan and called the card ex/mt, selling it for $2.99, with free shipping, or basically $1 to me since I used cardboard and bubble wrap inside an bubble mailer and got to pay ebay for this priviledge. I guess you could argue that it is only ex maybe, but?....

Buyer:

I thought i was getting a close to mint card thats why i bought it. i dont know if it was liked this when you shipped it or it happened during shipping. let me know what you think?
thanks

The card:

selling raw on Ebay is tough....
  • A person who sees that scan and STILL thinks he's getting a "close to mint" card is not going to be someone to whom reason or logic will easily get through. Refund + block, of course.

there is lots of profit to be made selling raw on ebay if you can stomach the clowns. my last one sent me a reply, " I am missing 3 cards , only received card #198" . but one bad seed per few hundred transactions with a lot of repeat buyers makes it worthwhile.

Thats frustrating.. To add to the venting thread... I gotta mention my moron postman.. Who jammed a envelope into my mailbox event though it had "do not bend" all over it. Its a 100 dollar item in good condition.. It's worthless if the sheets of cards got creased. I didn't even open it.. Its mangled.. I'm going to try to take it to the post office. And see what my options are. I kinda think I'm porked since its not insured.

Ironically, I had it listed for $3.99 with free shipping and he asked if I would take 2.99, which I agreed to.

I responded offering a refund, but haven't heard back yet. Che Sera Sera

Feel free to block him folks... heres the reply to my offer of a refund, which the auction clearly states that return shipping is paid by the buyer (I'm going to refund and tell him to just keep the card):

I just looked at picture real good and I didn't see any corner damage or scraping on the side, if i would have saw that I probably would have not have bought it, unless it happened during shipping, i dont know. But for me to ship this back to go and buy and padded envelope and postage fees would not be fair to me. - yanks12386

I'm just laughing and grateful it was only $3.

And this is exactly the problem. Overgraded crap claiming to be something its not.

Please send your ebay user name so I can block it.
  • A lesson learned, I hope. Some of my biggest rogerings have been when trying to help people. But when I sell something for 200 bucks that I pulled out of the trash, I get mountains of positives. Just roll with it and learn from it.

Thanks for exposing yet another dbag for us to block. At least we gained that from your experience.

Want another joke of an eBayer to block and/or avoid???

    sadie2703

This individual sells items asking for payment within 24 hours, and offers combined shipping discounts. It takes three requests to finally get a combined invoice from them. S&H policy of $0.99 a card, plus $0.50 each additional (no cap mentioned)... not horrible.

Get my cards finally... sent loosely (apparently can't afford the fraction of a penny it costs to put tape across the top) in a single top loader... of course one of the cards slid partly out of the top loader and was damaged... which, of course, was easy to happen since the cards were sent in a PWE!!!

Poor communication, poor shipping execution, PWE, damaged product... total seller negligence... so, yes, I left a Neutral (albeit, they easily could have received a negative).

Today, I wake up to this glowing positive feedback on my account...

"Took 5 Days To Pay For Auction Stating 24 Hrs Then Leaves Me A Neutral"

Well, no sheeeeit sherlock... of course I took 5 days to pay, considering that's how long it took to get you to respond to my requests for a correct combined invoice! Once received, I paid within 5 hours! Would have paid sooner, but the invoice came through at 3:30AM!

Now I'm the one that has to go through more headache to report their feedback policy violation and get this one removed from my feedback history... ughh!

Started selling again to clean out some stuff I dont want and dupes. I am ran into an array of issues. People want to win auctions, they just dont want to pay for them.

On a side note I got a deal on 4 auto cards. In the auction it mentions the seller would be on vacation until 7/16. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited for the end of July to contact the seller directly. I didnt hear anything back so I had to open a case. The item is actually marked as shipped on ebay but not tracking number.

I havent had too many problems on ebay but when I have 3 auction winners that dont pay after 5 days it makes me wonder what the heck people think.

Why not simply reply to it?

I left out my responses patiently explaining the different grades of ex/mt, nm, nm/mt, mt and referenced beckett for a more detailed explanation as well, etc.. Subtlety was just completely lost. No big deal at all, just funny in a sad way. In fourteen years on ebay I have never, not once had a complaint or a card come back because I overgraded raw, including a number of expensive sets.

The percentage of problem buyers increases dramatically as item price falls. The inverse relationship is counter-intuitive, but real. Ahh, the wacky world of ebay.
