Terrible news. What a shame. I had quite a few interactions with Gary regarding his Palestine British Mandate set. He had gone silent for some time and now we know why.

    RIP Gary.

Andy please post any details that you have on facebook.

Darn it - I've spoken to him a # of times in last 2 years - last time was 6 weeks ago or about, and got him in ICU (or around the ICU shees) actually - he told me he's messed up and barely made it to the ER altogether. Nurses wouldn't let him talk anymore lol he couldn't elaborate and sounded really distant.

He promised to call me in a few days and I never heard back from him.

All call #'s or correspondence went unanswered so I know why now image

He had a great eye for potosi reales if I recall.

Always a sad day when we lose a collector.

I've been in many conversations with Gary over the last 2 years. He had a true passion for coins, a great eye for quality, and a wealth of information on coins he focused on (Bolivia and Palestine Mandate). He was a nice guy - loved his family, did quite a bit of charity work... I considered him a friend, even though we have never met. Every time one of us would be able to attend a major show - something would prevent the other from attending. He lived with chronic pain and two years of fighting cancer did take quite a toll on him. I hope he is in a better place now. I will truly miss him.

Aethelred, I haven't heard of anything being organized. Perhaps Andy has more information, since he's plugged into Gary's FaceBook page?

Unfortunately, I don't know if there's a fund, or a need for funds, or anything more. However, if anyone wants to contact Gary's wife via Facebook, she can be found here.
