Question re US coin

ZoharZohar Posts: 6,678 ✭✭✭✭✭
I know this is not the right forum yet perhaps there is someone within this friendly group that can assist. I had cleared my old US low grade set I collected as a kid. I have 2 pieces of the 1942 Mercury Dimes which I wrote down as 1942/1 Overdate. Can anyone advise if this is the case? Unclear to me. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks I see the 4 perhaps having an overdate. The 2/1 is covered with crust. I want to put it on ebay yet not misrepresent. If there was a way to remove the crust.

Looks good to me but I would post this on the US forum.

hey Z - the first one is the O/D, the 2nd one I don't believe is an O/D altogether - and yup try US they won't bite.

Actually extremely helpful. I dipped in acetone and "Voila" the first is a clear O/D. The second is said to be by one of the forum members and by looking at the other sample it is a more subtle O/D.

I think the same that they would appreciate you posting this on the US coin side. You could get more info as well. With regards to your statement above. You are not a new member and look at your number of post as well. You sir are a Veteran of our PCGS forum community.image

They really helped me reveal the overdate. I will sell these to fund a taler purchase.

Z - congrats on your overdates. If you haven't decided already, I strongly suggest sending to PCGS or NGC for slabbing. Even if they net grade the coins, at least they'll have been certified as genuine overdates.

Nice score, Z! Now flip them for some darkside silver and make sure to wash your hands after touching those tainted US coins image

That first overdate is a nice one.

Trust me will do need to get a sense of value.

Overdates are cool, even when they come from the Liteside.
