ot ebay advice needed. issue with a buyer (sorry i know many of you hate these posts)

First of all I'm sorry about the off topic ebay post. I'm only posting here because I know many of you are ebay experts and have a lot experience dealing with lunatic customers. Here is my issue... In the month of march I sold some fig tree cuttings for my father in law. They are litterally twigs from the fig tree that are used to start new trees. Believe it or not there is actually a market for them on ebay. I checked online to see the how to ship them and was told the best way was to wrap in a damp paper towel and put then in a plastic bag and then the envelope. So that is what I did for all of the orders. I sold a bunch so we cut them all and shipped them all on the same day, April 6th. I checked the tracking and the buyer who complained got their package on april 9th. So they were in the mail for 3 days. On may 2nd I got the first message form the buyer claiming that the cuttings were dead. I responded back that night explaining that the tree already started to bud so I couldn't provide any more cuttings. On may 3rd they sent another message asking if I had any potted plants. Later that day they opened a case against me saying I did not respond and was uncooperative, and the item was not described and wanted a refund. I would have worked something out with the person but since they literally gave me a few hours to responde before opening a case I reponded back with facts and said I would not offer any reund or do any future biz with that seller. Well that caused the seller to flip their lid, send me messages telling to drop dead ect.. Pretty psycho stuff.

Here are my issues
1 ebay already closed the case and issued the person a refund. Its only 10 bucks so I could careless about the money but its personal now. It also said in the case that I wasn't at fault but issued a refund anyways. It sounds like to.me that ebay is just refunding the buyer and I'm not responsible. Is this how it works or will I get billed by ebay later

2) The person left me neg feedback. I don't really care about it because I don't really sell that much on ebay. I kinda just want to get rid of it because the buyer seemed so ecstatic to neg me... They made that clear in the ebay messages.

3) The person told me DROP DEAD in 2 different messages, called me a lyar and cheat several times... All over a 6.99 item. Could I get this person kicked off ebay?

4 how do block a bidder and prevent them from contacting me

Sorry for the long rant. And thanks for any advice

Life is too short. I used to get all worked up about ace holes on ebay, driving etc.

My advice is find out how to block them from somebody on here. I don't know and have never done it.

Then have a drink and just be happy you're not like them.

Haha... Around march just cut 6-8 inch cuttings like you are pruning the tree. Sell them for a buck each with breakpoints for volume. I made about 150 bucks doing it after fees ects.. Its not really worth it to me.. The time it took to package and ship ect... And now dealing with idiot buyers. Just heads up.. If you do decide to sell them DO NOT sell to got_fema. Unless you like confrontation and just keep responding to their insane messages.

  • Hey Eagles, I see your first point saying they issued the refund.

A friend of mine recently had a very problematic buyer. He bought a card that was BGS 9.5. Then complained that he wanted a partial refund of $20, he was told he would either keep the card, or return it for a full refund... He kept the card and my friend said he left positive feedback and said ebay refunded him the $20, my friend got his money released as well... So I'm not sure if ebay is actually issuing refunds of ebay bucks or some form of spending on their site now?

My advice? I would have simply refunded the buyer when he claimed the cuttings were dead.

    (regardless of the time line)

Then all of this would have been avoided.

To the person that also wanted to know how to sell fig cuts online.

If your tree has shoots that come up from around the tree many of these shoots

already have root systems started. Pull them up and use them. Do the wet paper towel thing and add some peat.

You can probably get the negative taken off. If the seller threatened to leave negative feedback unless you refunded or gave a partial refund, then ebay will definitely side with you. The negative will be removed. I think ebay would also not like that you were threatened. Depending on the personal threats, you may go to your local police. I went to my local police once when a seller said that he had friends in my area that would pay me a visit.

I'm curious as to what kind of response and follow-up you received from the police. They are obligated to do initial investigation.

They are under no obligation other than to take a report.

    Good for you.
