Bell Taler NEWP...

Just received this newp - 1643 Bell Taler. One of the designs used to celebrate the end of the 30 Years War. Very happy with some glimpses of color and luster here. Excuse the iPhone pics.

A quick search shows some others have interest in these (@worldcoinguy). Post 'em if you've got 'em.

That is a great example - I like the overall look of it. Unfortunately I let my 2 examples go in an exchange for a different taler several years back, but I still am drawn to the design.

Here is a half taler I used to own:

Never seen one of those before. Very groovy.

This is exactly why Talers are captivating my interest. I'm new at these but that exhilarating. So much new to learn at every corner and neat designs I hanvt seen yet, so much variety. How were they made and what they bought, who used them and how they survived, and how to grade then or what's acceptable and what's not for straight grading, etc. Looking for accurate accounts of the history around the pieces and what the depictions describe is also great thing to do.

    Thanks for sharing!

There are a few varieties of the bell talers. This one is the scarce one.

@worldcoinguy - thanks for the examples.

I've been reading about August the Younger on these coins. "Alles Mit Bedacht" - "Everything Wisely." Nice.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
