isn't the CGC universe grade kind of reassuring as much as PSA is? regarding legitimacy. and that's a serious question because i know enough of the comic book hobby to hurt myself.
i would def ask a comic forum.
It's a cool comic that I would love to have.
Though encased in plastic makes it difficult to read.
I guess try checking CGC's registry, just like PSA.
I see this is the 12cent version, as compared to those I saw on Heritage Auctions. (ex: UK version??)
I did run across on CGC's forum board, someone is selling a CGC graded .5 unrestored for 6995.
So, I expect your spending some serious dough and do your due diligence.
-sorry not much help otherwise, as I don't do comics, but fascinated by them.
Looks to be about $12-$15k book.
The blue label means it passed all the restoration checks and the case seems Intact.
Looks good for the grade.
If you have an opportunity to pickup a AF15, you need to pick it up. That looks legit to me. I would like to see the back just to see if it an old case or new one, it CGC is the standard. I wouldn't hesitate to buy that book. Come back and let us know if you get it.
I collect: 80’s Rookies and 86 Fleer Basketball
You can tell it is a new case from the style of the flip.
Serial number doesn’t register. Thoughts?
Maybe call or email CGC to verify? I had a CGC 2.5 of that book signed by Stan Lee. If the price is right, get it!

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.
How much is it?
Price was too good to be true and serial number didn't register so I passed.
sorry you didnt get it...but sounds like u made the correct decision.....
are these susceptible to fraud, being cracked open or counterfeited?
That scares the crap out of me "every time."
Do you mind sharing the asking price?
here is one i picked up..i know its restored but it presents nicely.
This is the book, right? And the cert number checks out fine.

Book itself and the slab and cert all look legit, however the going scam for a long time with comics is to swipe perfectly legit images of comics that the "seller" in no way actually owns, taking the $$$ and delivering an empty weighted box or the like. Basically, if the price was "too good to be true" there was a reason. A certified AF15 is about as liquid a comic book as you could want, assuming it's priced correctly for the current market.
Not to slam on your book, and it's not the resto that bothers me (though I always prefer unrestored) -- the issue is the certifier; they're respected only in a manner somewhat akin to fly by night coin grading companies. Given that part of the "restoration" notes on the label include TRIMMED, it's going to be difficult to get your money back out of that in the future. If possible for you to do so, I would try to send back this particular one and hopefully get all, or most of your money back. A reasonably priced ASM #1 that isn't trimmed, but still restored (to keep the price down) isn't impossible to find. If you need I can PM you several comic dealers that could find one and give you a fair, upright deal.
