Very sad day indeed! I'll never forget meeting him at an autograph session about 20 years ago. What a thrill that was.

    Very, very sad.

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, and was a rabid Black Hawks fan in the mid-to-late 60s. Gordie Howe was a player almost all of us neighborhood kids liked and respected, even if he played for the Red Wings. Whoever thought of the outrageous concept, perhaps tongue-in-cheek, of having one's elbows registered with the police department, must surely have been thinking of Gordie. If anybody messed with him, boy, were they gonna get it! Mr. Hockey----you better believe it!!!!!!

RIP. My deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and fans. ---Indiana Jones (Brian Powell)
