1939 Play Ball Ted Williams, 1981 Topps Joe Montana, Some Jeter, Elway, Etc. What Would These Grade?

See pics below. Curious to know board members opinions on grades...such as the likely range or a estimation of an exact grade. If I have specific concerns, such as centering, I address it prior to each card. Please let me know what you think. Potentially going to send these off in a renewal submission this week.

1939 Play Ball Ted Williams:
-I am concern about the back side mark (see lower left corner) and some potential front side marks (see top left orange looking specs). Will these marks make it a "MK" qualifier? Or will it drag down the overall grade to a 1 or 2 range? I was hoping for a 4 MK.

1981 Topps Joe Montana
-Back side centering concerns me. Also may be some edge chipping on the front. Does this have a shot at 9?

1984 Topps John Elway
-Back side centering concerns me. Also there is some edge chipping on the front. Does this have a shot at 9?

1999 Bowman's Best Franchise Favorites Derek Jeter Auto on Card
-The vertical purple bars do not have the same amount of space between then on the far left and right sides of the card....does this mean it is OC? Would this prevent it from being a 10?

The corners look soft on both the Elway and Montana from the scan. Centering looks good on the Elwau to me though
    Looking for FB HOF Rookies
  • Agree that corners on Montana and Elway will preclude a 9.

I agree. Corners on elway and montana are just too soft for 9

I'm not familiar with either how the Williams or Jeter cards are graded so I won't guess on those grades. Although I think the Williams front looks very nice. It looks like there is a significant stain on the back, so if you go NQ my guess is you end up with a high eye appeal card that looks better than the grade.

I do not think either the Montana or the Elway is likely to grade a 9. Most likely 8 or below on both.

Here's where I would set my expectations: 3(ST),7,7,8 I could also see any of them in a slab at a grade higher, but like to go in with low expectations and be pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed.

For the Williams, the spotting on the front could be overlooked, but the back will get it a qualifier. I would guess ST over MK, MK is usually reserved for pen/pencil markings that are not autos.

I would get Williams graded, regardless of the grade it receives. The others I would leave ungraded.
