PWCC Mantle PSA 1.5

Just checking the boards thoughts on this one Brent has up ending tonight.... It is very pleasing to the eye!
Does paperless on the reverse bother you?

Interesting that the PSA 3, that is ending at the same time, is only currently $234 more.

It's a real nice looking card ... but at the 3.5 price already. Another grand at it's at a "4" price. The paper loss does not bother me too much, but if it hits FOUR GRAND I think you could do better elsewhere. I may be totally off on this, as I have not followed this card. MAYBE one day I will be able to add it to my MICK collection. GOOD LUCK!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I've been watching both the 1.5 and the 3 to see which ends up going for more (and to assure myself that I didn't pay too much for my 2.5). If the price is right, the paper loss doesn't really bother me because it doesn't touch the descriptive writing, but I'm with Doug that the price is approaching the point that I wouldn't want to pay given the paper loss. Image on the 1.5 is slightly blurry but not too bad for that card, which can be a mess. The 3 has the print line that touches the face and the centering and corners aren't as good. It will be interesting to see where they end up.

This is a real test of eye appeal versus value versus paying too much etc.
I love the card's eye appeal and I would think that even if one overpaid for it
Now it would increase above what you pay in 5-10 years for sure

Are you a bidder on this? I would ease up on the positive comments if you are. It'll just attract more eyes and drive the price up. Just IMHO. Thats why its a difficult balance on sharing vs bidding.

I looked it up just because of the positive remarks on this thread. And now have considered bidding. I was shocked at the price..so unfort I'm out of the market for this one. I just can't pay almost five figures for a 1.5 regardless of eye appeal. But I can def see why you like this one. 5 figures, I'm sure the cosigner thanks you and happy regardless.
Interested in higher grade vintage cards. Aren't we all. image

Couldnt disagree more. I understand that creases come with a 1.5, but that centering is terrible. Over 8K now. No thanks.

I think the original post was about this 1951 Mantle and not the 1952 you are referring to.

The paper loss on the back didn't bother me, and I was thrilled about the centering, corners, and lack of those pesky roller marks. Since I had some eBay bucks ready for spending, could think of no better way than to add a nice 51B Mantle to the collection.

    Was this your consignment Ed?

Congrats. That was some clutch paper loss placement, avoiding the entire bio text! Great card that will look great in hand.

Congrats to the buyer..... I really thought this was headed to about 5k
I really talked myself out of it for that reason. Kind of regretting not going to 3400 or 3500 on it
