Manning Contenders PSA 10 on eBay

Just making sure others saw this that might be interested. It's the only one besides mine that I've seen offered in the last 5 years or so:

Is that Manning's most desirable or expensive card?
  • kencopekencope Posts: 416 ✭✭
Yes, by far. Only 200 of them made, extremely condition sensitive card. Only 7 PSA 10s ever graded and I know that 2 of those are no longer in PSA 10 holders.

what card is considered his rookie card? is it this one or just expensive due to the low pop?
Interested in higher grade vintage cards. Aren't we all. image

This is a true rookie autograph. By far his best card, and in my opinion the best modern football card available. Some will argue for the Brady Championship Contenders or the Payton/Sanders PTT, but the 1998 Contenders set is what changed the industry in terms of the rookie auto and Peyton will likely own most all QB stats records when he's done.

Anyone have a guess on what price this ends up at?

my guess would be around 18k. I've cracked boxes of this and you talk about condition sensitive! This is as nice an example as you'll find

Good thing for the owner it's in a PSA holder as BGS would grade that auto an 8. That autograph will keep a lot of buyers away at the high prices.

I would tend to agree that the autograph will keep people away, but I've also discovered that CARD collectors aren't nearly as picky about the autograph as AUTOGRAPH collectors are

I'm an autograph collector, and no matter how nice this card was compared to others I could never be happy with it because of the autograph

But I'm not bidding on it, so good for everyone else who is! image

There's a BGS 9.5 that has the same auto as this, but got the "10" autograph grade. That was graded a while ago, though, and BGS has changed how hard they grade autographs since then.

Pretty much all of his Contender autos look like this one, so I don't see it as much of an issue, because it's nearly impossible to find one better (and certainly not in a high grade).

Will be fun to see where it lands, although not the optimal time to be selling IMO.

By the number of posts in this thread, I would assume so.

No, it's not. I have one, but this one is not mine. I wish I had the cash in my "card" account right now, because I'd love to have it.

djr - There aren't many of the Manning Contenders autos that don't have streaking and/or fading to the auto. Extremely tough card, both in condition and autograph grade.

That is amazing at 18k. We have a segment of the population that just have the resources to buy just about anything at any price.
Kudos to both the seller and buyer.

Unbelievable, this is my Son's dream card. You could buy a decent 1952 Topps Mantle for that $$$
