OT: Under the knife

This Friday at 6am, I am scheduled for neck surgery on my 5-6 and 6-7 cervical.

I had a bad hockey injury 8 years ago going into the boards head first. This injury has now caught up to me.

The big concern with this surgery is they go through my throat in order to get to the problem area.

This will probably keep me off my feet for a couple days and also will limit me from being as active from normal activities for a little while.

Things will run normal here, if anyone has any questions , you can PM me.

I'm sure I will still be checking things out on my cell phone from time to time.

Some of you already know about this and some don't. If it takes me longer to respond than normal, now you know why

    Good luck

I had that exact surgery about 10 years ago.

Pain was gone right away that I had been suffering.

stay hydrated and drink with a straw....you will be fine.

I hope they are doing something other than your hip bone for the fusion.

That was worse. Now they have prostetics.

Must be card related. I had c6 replaced with cadaver bone and titanium plate back in 3/08. Immediate relief to left arm and hand. Took about 3 months but went back to playing competition paintball and softball. Small scar at neckline but no one notices. Sore throat for a week was only draw back. Good luck.

I know a few people having hockey-related board surgeries. Everyone came out fine.

Thank goodness the injury wasn't like Travis Roy's. That whole situation depresses me.

    Best of luck Tom!

I just had back surgery a month ago. I had lower back fused (L5/S1). Definite immediate improvement but take time to let body heal. First three weeks I had good days and bad days but seem to be leveling off now and working on getting new hard used to its new surroundings.
