is it not possible that someone aftermarket shrink-wrapped the outer box as well? I guess you'd have to open it to verify the inner card bundle was wrapped to know for sure.
Outside of the wrapping, does anyone have any knowledge if Nolan Ryan can be on the front of a cello? I guess in theory anyone could but some of you know the sequencing and perhaps it is highly unlikely.
If the shrinkwrap had the BBCE imprint, that would be a different story, but the purpose of that shrinkwrap is to create a false sense of factory sealed authenticity with a star card on top. Topps did not shrinkwrap any of the outer boxes they used from 1970-1972. There is zero chance that pack is authentic.

But I see people selling shrink-wrapped unopen that has no imprint on the shrink-wrap that they claim comes from BBCE. So that stuff is bootleg? Its only good if it has the imprint? I even see people selling unopen with no shrink wrap but saying it came from BBCE. Whats that about? There's even people selling card board shipping boxes saying it came from BBCE with letters of authenticity that do not match anything on the shipping box. Oh My! This unopen stuff is so confusing!
BBCE used clear shrinkwrap but with sticker or business card years ago. If you don't see either, I would not assume it's from BBCE based on word of seller, though I see some packs being sold that I know did come from BBCE, as I recognize the seller.
I belive Steve charges a very nominal fee ($5 if I'm not mistaken) to shrinkwrap a box with the old clear wrap, if you want it in the new wrap.

I did not get a link to an eBay auction--just a photo bucket picture link--so I do not know what the seller claims. Not that it makes any difference. I would never buy this pack--just because it is outer wrapped and Topps did not, as mentioned, wrap the cello boxes themselves.
having said that, some people did get creative pre-PSA grading to protect their unopened packs and racks. You all would be surprised at the measures I took to protect my unopened way before PSA and GAI started grading them

and selling and trying to sell are 2 very different things

You can always ship the box to Steve to have him shrinkwrap again if you are leery of the seller in that case. Some even have added the BBCE address as a confirmed paypal address.

They have done so by request for a while now, though obviously this is not one of those times.

grote15 you sound pretty knowledgeable when it comes to early cellos....you 100% sure that they didn't come shrink wrapped?
<< <i>Doesn't aftermarket shrink wrapping add value to unopened? I see people getting premiums for shrink wrapping! I'm soooo confused!
Good call!

I have a 1970 super cello (33 card, green box 3rd series) wrapped by Steve.
They will do if if you ask for it
