When does the "Buy It Now" option disappear?

If you list an item on Ebay with a regular auction style, no reserve, does the Buy It Now option disappear as soon as a minimum bid is placed? Thanks for any info, Tom



For auction-style listings with the Buy It Now option, you have the chance to purchase an item immediately, before bidding starts. But you have to act fast. After someone bids, the Buy It Now option disappears and bidding continues until the listing ends, with the item going to the highest bidder. Learn more about buying with the Buy It Now option.

Special situations

In a listing with a reserve price, Buy It Now disappears as soon as the reserve price has been met.

In some categories, the Buy It Now option is available until bids reach or exceed 50% of the Buy It Now price:
Cell Phones & Accessories
Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
Motors Parts & Accessories
Tickets

    Correct, unless seller has placed a reserve on it.

    What I have noticed, too, is that if you win an item, the ebay confirmation email will state what the BIN price was for the item (if there was one). That is an interesting tidbit if you want to know how much less (or more) you spent than the seller was looking for.

    after first bid on a no reserve auction..

    but a few years back you could bid the minimum... say $9.99, then go back later and if no one else bid after you... you could retract the bid and then hit 'Buy it Now' (after it reappears)...
    I did this on a rarer (uncataloged) card I needed a day to research on a bit, and it worked.... scored it for a fourth of what I sold it for later on...

    I never understood ebay's logic for the BIN disappearing after the first bid. I put a BIN of $100 on something, and just because someone bids $50 on it that means I no longer want someone to buy it for $100?

    Not true here. From personal experience, like right now...there are multiple bids on an item I'm selling and the BIN is still in effect.
    ..I believe it goes away at a certain percentage of the BIN. Not abs sure about that.

    There's no reserve.

    I thought that I had seen that scenario before also. But, it doesn't seem consistent.

    I looked it up, and here's the deal:

    In the following categories, Buy It Now is available until bidding reaches or exceeds 50% of the Buy It Now price:
    Cell Phones & Accessories
    Clothing, Shoes & Accessories
    Motors Parts & Accessories
    Tickets
