Overton prices on the PCGS price guide.

I was very happy to see PCGS expand the the price guide to include overton varieties. Quarters ans dimes next? To see the prices just click on the + next to the date of the coin in the price guide, great feature!!!

I've been meaning to post this thread myself. I highly commend PCGS for adding varieties to the price list!

Problem is, PCGS has been lousy at attributing these coins. I send submissions in with the coins all attributed and PCGS still screws it up. Ridiculous.

Are you sure you got them right?

I have also seen some problems, but think they are getting better, it has become increasingly important to them and I think their additional effort will pay off.

Positive. CBHs are all I collect, and I probably have 300+. I have the major attribution guides, a microscope, and membership in the BHNC.

The mistake rate is about 10%. I have a pile of misattributed slabbed coins I'm not sure what to do with.

In defense of PCGS, I believe the error rate is probably much higher elsewhere. Take a look here...now what am I going to do with this? Sell it for $30 instead of the $300 I had to buy it back for because it was wrong?

Unfortunately, it is my understanding that none of the TPGs guarantee attributions. If I'm wrong someone please let me know. However, based on what I have seen in the field ANACS is actually more accurate at attributing by Overton than either PCGS or NGC (by far the worse).

ALWAYS do your own attributions (or ask a specialist in the series) rather than depending on any of the TPGs to get it right--especially before paying a premium on a coin identified as an R-5 or better.

Send your misattributed PCGS coins back to PCGS under Mechanical Errors. Corrections should be free. PCGS used to cover even shipping both ways, but I heard they no longer cover shipping. I am sure that PCGS does not want you to keep mislabeled coins, embarrassing to PCGS.
