February 2013 SMR/Mike Kelley: A story that needs to be read, now with link

To Mike Kelley or "miconelegacy" as known on the message boards:

The article in the February 2013 edition of SMR is one of the most moving I have read in recent years. The loss of your beloved Michelle is so sad yet the support and strength you and your family received from friends, some who you hardly knew, is so heartwarming. The article is a tribute to Michelle, your family, your friends, and members of this message board who provided you with so much support. I wish the best for you and your family as life continues with the wonderful memories that you have.

Rich

A truly wonderful article about a remarkable man who I am proud to call my friend and my partner.

Mike, the courage and determination to move ahead that Michelle, you and your kids have shown through this
are examples for all of us to aspire to. Your "extended family" here in Ohio loves you guys and will always be there
    for you.

That was a great read. I met Mike at the SunTimes show in November and purchased an older cello box from him which I am proud to have in my collection today. I had no idea of all that had happened in his life and how collecting provided a great coping mechanism for him and the outpouring of support that he received from these boards in the passing of his wife. I'm thankful that he had all of the people here providing support and encouragement. I cant even begin to imagine his emotions or what he went through. I know it puts my life so much into perspective and my problems are so trivial to some of the real struggles that are out there. Thanks for sharing all of that, I'm sure it will help many people.

Very inspiring story. Thanks for sharing, especially during a season where it is important to appreciate what we have, not what we want.

I am almost at a loss for words after reading that article.
I have been in a "funk" lately with what happend in Newtown, CT. Reading that article reminds me that there is still good people in this world. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity.

Mike I am anxious to read it!!!

When I clicked on the link I thought wow that cover is very familiar. I subscribe still the the Beckett Sports Monthly magazine because it is so cheap and they have a small wrestling section.

After snagging it from the pile I realize it is the same picture used for both covers and just the SMR is a painted version. Very interesting to see.

Mike I am making my way through the article and I got back into buying cards one night on EBAY in 2006 when I bought a few 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie cards too!!

That card was as good as a bar of gold when I was 10. This was the card along with the David Robinson Rookie in the 1989 Hoops that changed card collecting for ever!

I remember reading along as the story unfolded in real time here on the boards. I never said much, but was very moved by the events. Seeing them recapped in this article was incredible.

I have never had any dealings with Mike, but recently met him at the Chicago Sun Times show. What a strong person.

    Inspiring.

This post needs to remain near the top for a long time, although the way the last few days have been, it's hard to believe that the message boards described in the article are these very same message boards.

they are the same. the people who frequent these boards are clinical goldmines who feed on obsessions.

and we are all very much the same people who feel the need to reach out to someone like Mike Kelley.

a real man and a hero to his family.

Mike is such a tremendous friend and inspiration to me. He is the same in person as he is on these boards and I am privileged to have gotten to know him.

This board has many great members and it is nice to be reminded of that from time to time.
