If you haven't joined CE yet...here's a pretty darn good reason

I have confirmed with Upper Deck that a box of Ultimate Collection is on the way to me for our new "Box break and Review" section. Not only should this be an interesting segment, but we're also going to be giving all the inserts we pull away in weekly contests for our members. So if ytou haven't joined the fastest growing trading sight on the web yet, hop over to www.collectorempire.com and sign up up!

Also, I'll be getting a box of SP authentic basketball from upper deck as soon as they hit, and as always all pulls will be given away to members, and all singles will be donated to my local children's hospital. (thanks for the great idea JTAgent).

    Ya' know uftwke I could use your help with the guiys I'm talking to at fleer..I'm trying to persuade them to put out a card product featuring street ball players..Ie. like from the And1 mixtapes and Nike freestyle tapes ruckers players etc..I've even mentioned that they could contact Nike and And1 about maybe redemption cards good for attirer,accessories etc,,I need a smooth talker to help get this point across to them that basketball collectors would go for such a release if done so in the summer months in the NBA offseason when theres nothing for Bkball collectors to buy...

    2. You will recieve a message that you are not logged in, or cannot post, yada yada yada...
    3. click the forums button
    4. you will be prompted to either "login" or register"

    AI3 the only problem with that idea is card companies only put out players who have signed their player licensing agreement (thats why you didn't see any authorized Lavar Arrington cards for such a long time). Street ball players have not signed any such agreement, and therefore could not be part of a standard NBA set. As far as making an entirely seperate set, you have to ask yourself if the demand is there for a complete set of these guys, the vast majority of which will be complete strangers to about 98% of the country. These players get no TV exposure, no endorsements, and therefore it will be very hard to convince some kid in Utah that he needs to plunk down $5 for a pack of card of players who he's never seen or heard of, and as far as he knows aren't doing naything more than what he does, playing a little blacktop ball in the summer.

    Yep uftwke...Thats what I;m saying an entirely un NBA related set..A summertime releas during nBA off season...The only companies that would have to be involved are shoe companies and the card manufacturer..And1 already has player cards they hand them out on the And1 mixtape tours...As I was saying there would be no Rc's as it's not league related but they could still have GU'd shoe shirt ball etc..And if Nike or And1 or both are involved like redemption cards for And! mixtape videos and Nike merchandise etc...You and auto have better connections than I do..I cant get past customer service I was however going to post some threads on various sites to get collectors opinins and whether they'd purchase or not,,To pass along to which ever card company seemed most onboard with the idea..I think it'd be great all around I know theres interest because the And1 mixtapes which are given away free seel on eBay for $25 up to $50 and it would give a boost in sales to the card company because theres nothing for Bkball collectors to buy in the summer months,,

    AI3, you make a good case, but again the problem I see is your demographics. Sure, you're going to have a nuch of people in that 12-17 age range clamoring for these cool cards, but that's the demographic that traditioanlly has the least amount of money. The problem you'll run into is selling them to 40-year-old dealers, who have never heard of these guys, have never seen them play of TV, and can only sell them to teens who can only afford a pack or two at a time. As far as the GU's, unless someone is a big street ball fan, they'll buy a Paul Pierce warm up over the game used shorts of some nobody anytime.

    I think it's a neat idea, I just can't imagine who you'd sell it to.

    Yep and who's going to put up the money for all the advertisements of the set? Those And1 commercials won't do much. You will have to have ads in all sports related publications, TV spots (Behind the Lines), etc. They would have to get NBA players who's played in these leagues during the summers to talk about it on those TV spots. An interest has to build up. They would end up spending more money than they would make since not many people know who these players are.

    No, it's not like that. People tend to get the wrong idea. The boxes will be for our Box Break and Review section. Some cards will be used for contests on CE and majority will be sent to Children's Hospitals, Boys Club, and maybe Ronald McDonald House. We are basically advertising for these companies in return it will build up traffic for CE (between box break numbers and contests) and it also makes a bunch of ill kids feel better. So, "free" and "$$$" never comes up in the discussion.
