Morgan AU58PL & AU58DMPL

I have seen that PCGS has recongnized three AU58 morgans as PL or DMPL.

1880-O AU58DMPL
1878-P 8TF AU58PL
1878-P 7TF AU58PL

When did PCGS start giving PL/DMPL to AU58 coins? Is this a new thing?

Over time they have issued some 58's in PL and DMPL. It is not the norm, I had a friend make one about 2 years ago. For the total pop there are very few. There is also a 94-S 58PL.

    Blu62vette,

Thank you for your response. I was hoping that PCGS would start recognizing the 58s in PL and DMPL.

I have converted my 1878 from ANACS AU58PL to PCGS in FEB 2012.

It graded as AU58, but that coin is also the only 1878-CC AU58 to be CAC'd with a population of 225 PCGS AU58s.

If that one did not get the AU58PL from PCGS, then I do not know what will.

I would love to know the requirements to make that exclusive AU58PL or AU58DMPL Morgan.

    Big Rick,

Let me look through my files for a picture. I should have one in its ANACS holder before the crossover. The coin is at my CAC dealer right now. I will be getting it back next week. I am going in to review two AU58 1889-S Morgans from Americian Rare Coin.

    Rick,

I attached the pictures to the coin in my Everyman set. I cannot figure out how to post an image here.
