found me a new PCGS DOILY i think its a KILLER

paid my brother to pick it up for me it was a 13hr drive
something wierd though it has the vdb on the back but its super super faint did they use the same dies and just remove it ...is this normal ...

    yeah you bet close-ups would be neat too

    ive took some more pics but it just dosnt show enough u cant make out vdb but there is something where it would be ...anyone know anything about this series ...i bought it mor for the holder ..but there does seem to be something in this area i will look at it uned a mag.

    I read somewhere that there are 1910 with polished off VDBs

    That is cool, But you would be in for a big You Suck award if that coin has a those little initials and you paid regular 1909 MPL price. Plus, This could be some sort of a first time seen MPL die , Etc.

    To be honest I would bet it is simply the op seeing what he wants to and there is nothing there. Also it looks to have turned in its holder and is no longer covered by pcgs support as it wanted owed by IN before the cutoff. It looks to me to be a lemon in a popular holder

    i have had no luck getting a good pic but i can make out a d in the middle it is very hard to see but im positive it is there the other letters are to hard to tell im just wondering if they polished off the vdb before striking some of these anyone really know some facts about thes mpl
    i will never crack it either way as i collect doilys and love the coin in it

    From the pictures I see online and the flynn book the VDB is sharp and unmistakable on the coins that have it, and for the non-VDB coins no mention is made of any remnants being visible.
    Sell me a coin or three!

    If it shows light VDB its more likly miss labeled as a proof when its really MS

    Agreed and I have to say while the Pics aren't the best the rims or relief of the coin doesn't say proof to me but I am not a copper guy.

    Would need to see better pics before saying it's not even a proof. Do the diagnostics for a proof 1909 show in hand?

    But if you can't see the VDB clear as day, I'd say it's not a VDB. I can't tell you how many times I've bought 1909-S Lincolns and have sworn I saw a letter or two of VDB on the reverse... unfortunately, I was usually the only one seeing it image

    Seller wouldn't ship the coin it was drive or do without as drunner once said I do it for the doily
