Am I to ASSUME that you are some sort of PROFESSIONAL photographer?

    Ha! Far from it.

But my critique was not meant as an attack on your skills, but rather as a comment on the futility of trying to grade a coin, (especially those that exhibit the type of toning that that Frankie does), from one pic.

I bet at a certain angle, that coin is very attractive.

Good point. constructive criticism is usually good.

The coin is a FLAT gunmetal grey toner on the obverse and you have to tweak the reverse just to see some reds and yellows. but it is mostly the same as the obverse!

OK GANG! here are the grades:

The GSA Morgan IS actually RAW. I wanted to get your opinions on it. The Obverse has no hits, just FROST BREAKS on the obverse. What MIGHT kill the coins grade is the hit on the eagles breast on the Reverse. IMHO it looks like a SOLID MS63 with a very good shot at MS64. The First 1887 Morgan is an NGC MS63. The 2nd is an NGC MS62. The Frankie is a PCGS MS65 Rattler. Did they grade these with the FBL designation back in those days? image

Thanks for all those who took part.

My question is: Do you THINK the GSA Morgan would go MS64 at NGC?

I think it has a shot, given your description.

    Pick me, Pick me!!!

    Oh wait...

I think the GSA has a shot at 64, but the mark on the breast hurts. Obverse is pretty clean for a 63. I've seen much worse in 63...toss up on the grade IMO.

    Cheers!

    Rattlers were pre-FBL designations.
