Grandmother just diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer

Well guys... I'm younger than most of you and haven't lost any family members yet, so I really don't know how to cope with it... My dad and grandmother met with the doctor this morning and they said she probably has about 3 months to live... She has been in and out of hospitals and care places for about a month now, she smoked for about 40 years but stopped in her 50's I believe, shows you how much damage smoking does.... She used to come see me every couple weeks when I was a kid... If you can keep her in your prayers it would be greatly appreciated.

Sean

Sean, prayers sent your way buddy. Losing someone close is never easy no matter how many times it happens. My grandmother also quit smoking mid-life and ended up with lung cancer in her 70's. She was diagnosed in November and passed away the following March. I was just thankful she quit when she did as it probably extended her life and my time with her.

What a coincidence. My mother was a heavy smoker and couldn't quit. She tried some kind of WaterPik filter (I think it was) and whatever else was available back in '84. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in December '83 and passed away on March 25th at age 51. I'm still not completely over losing her and the time she could/should have spent with my children and grandchildren.

Appreciate every day you have with all of your loved ones. Ya just never know...

I lost my grandmother a couple of years ago on 9/11 to cancer (she never smoked). One of the worst feelings ever was hearing the news the day I took her to the doctor. She was basically my mother, raised me until I was 18 ,and did anything/everything she could for me. My prayers are with you.

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)
