Who has shorted silver during this run ?

Just wondering who is brave enough to confess that they shorted silver during this run, and
if you don't mind, let us know where you shorted and when you got stopped out. I haven't shorted yet, but sure is tempting.
Having said that, I won't short this runaway train.

I wouldn't either. Even CNBC is jumping on the silver bandwagon with an analyst calling for $54 silver this month!

P.S. What was the "leak" out of China this morning?

I've shorted it many times over the last few years. Most times have been winners, but there have been losing trades. You have to be nimble. I short because I am very impatient and down moves happen faster than up moves. But if you aint quick on the trigger, you will get your AHTY.

Had not heard anything. Perhaps this, from KITCO.com's news listings:

IMHO, the financial condition of our country has passed through the Event Horizon and will continue to decline for the forseeable future = continued rise in silver and other commodities. Get'em while you can!

I shorted with ZSL 3X in the past 7 months. Each time silver had just flatlined after a run up and it seemed ripe for correction. In instance it took back off within 24-48 hrs. I didn't hold
any of those trades longer than 24 hrs and lost $100-$150 on each of them. It seems when I'm thinking "ZSL" it's just about the time for another silver run. The first time I tried ZSL last fall that silver run went up about 20%. Had I stayed in ZSL I'd have lost 40%. The next two had similar run ups. Fwiw I was starting to think ZSL just this past week or two, but realized I always get it wrong. This time I saved myself the $100....image

While I believe that this Nation is in for 5-10 tough years, I do not

believe that we are ready for the dust bin of history. This Nation of

ours will regain its MOJO just as soon as the folks in government stop

acting like greedy, spoiled children and start acting like adults who care

about the well being of the Nation and its people more then they care about

money, power, prestige and glory. A wish that is perhaps a forlorn hope, but

still miracles still do happen during the very worst of times.

  • With the conclusion of QE2 in June, look for QE3 in the near future (likely aliased under a more progressive title). The Fed has no choice other than not pay it's debts.

Fortunately have sold no silver nor gold. Hope to buy more within the next few weeks.

I never short silver, until today!

The folks I do business with are going on vacation for two weeks. At the store I have been buying on avg between 5-8k per day easily. The stuff piles up in a hurry if I dont have a place to unload it, not to mention it ties up tremendous amounts of cash. Before they left, i had one of thier business partners come pick up one last load at the store today. What i did is: I borrowed a good chunk of 90% and silver eagles from a freind, to add to(pad) the invoice today, and then will replace it over the next week or so as it comes back in, until they get back, and in turn for doing so will give him(my freind) a little bonus for borrowing his silver temporarily to short sell it.

I have learned, the hard way, not to place short bets during a bull trend. I do get out of a long position occasionally only to buy back in at a lower price.

Are you serious? I'm not too smart, but there seems like there is a lot that could go wrong with this scenario.

Not at all, in fact, I will probably have the short filled back by sat close of business. After my buyer picked up at 12pm, I had already bought another 9k in silver bullion consisting of eagles & 90% before close of business today.
