1962 Topps Baseball peeples - What say you?

here's another one of those singles that was just kinda dangling there with no interest and no bids but mine, and now that i have it in hand, it looks pretty darn nice for a common with a population which includes 42 PSA 8's, 1 PSA 8.5 and none higher than that, so of course i'm intending to submit it with high hopes....if anyone has a'62 Stephens #38 PSA 8 just for the sake of comparison, please post it, i'd appreciate it, opinions welcome, thanks.......

My Registry Sets
PSA NM+ 7.5, outside chance at an 8. Bottom right corner from scan keeps it from grading any higher.

<< <i>I'd say 7 or 7.5. They are much tougher than they once were on 62's. The snow/PD are pretty rampant on this card in general, hence the lack of 9's. This one isn't too bad, but the corners make it a 7.5 and the pd will probably cost you the half point.

you're right Mike....i just examined a few of my 62s which have graded PSA 8 or better and one clearly defining characteristic is a clean surface free of print dots and flecks....i'm still hoping someone here has a PSA 8 example just so i can look.

<< <i>MikeB thanks very much for posting that, exactly what i was hoping to see.....if i'm seeing it correctly, there is a touch of the print flecking on the surface, but i'm also seeing 4 smokin' corners....sweet card. >>
Glad to hear you got what you needed. This card a piece of fine art in an well-centered frame, isn't it??

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
Glen Eugene Stephens (born January 20, 1933 in Gravette, Arkansas) was an Outfielder for the Boston Red Sox (1952-53 and 1955-60), Baltimore Orioles (1960-61), Kansas City Athletics (1961-62) and Chicago White Sox (1963-64). He also played one season in Japan for the Chunichi Dragons (1966).
In 12 seasons he played in 964 Games and had 1,913 At Bats, 283 Runs, 460 Hits, 78 Doubles, 15 Triples, 37 Home Runs, 207 RBI, 27 Stolen Bases, 233 Walks, .240 Batting Average, .325 On-base percentage, .355 Slugging Percentage, 679 Total Bases and 17 Sacrifice Hits.
On June 18, 1953 Stephens became the first major leaguer in the modern era (since 1900) to have 3 hits in a single inning. The record was matched in 2004 by Johnny Damon, who coincidently also accomplished this feat as a Red Sox as well.
<< <i>7. That 8 shown is a smoker. >>
That 8 looks like a 9 to me - gorgeous card.
